Ruth Alexander

Program Director

Ruth Alexander has worked as an actor, musician and educator for over 25 years throughout the UK and Europe prior to making Edmonton her home in 2017. As an educator she has taught in some of the world’s leading drama institutions including the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, The Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts and the Institute of the Arts in Barcelona, where she was Director of the BA program in Musical Theatre during their inaugural year. She has been a lecturer on the Theatre arts course at MacEwan University since 2018.

Her credits as an actor include: A Christmas Carol, Once; the Musical (Citadel Theatre , Edmonton) TWO ( Edmonton Fringe Festival) Silence (Timms Centre for the Arts) Richard III, The Winter’s Tale, Comedy of Errors (Northern Broadsides, UK Tour) Les Misérables (UK and Dublin Tour) Sweeney Todd (Manchester) Blonde Bombshells of 1943 (Hampstead Theatre, London) A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Vienna) Macbeth, Hamlet (Liverpool) Rasputin (Hamburg). Ruth also played the recurring role of Lisa Dalton on the long running UK series ‘Coronation Street’.

Max Rubin

Acting & Improv

Max Rubin is a theatre director and acting teacher. Born in the UK he studied Drama at The University of Manchester, Acting at LAMDA and has an MFA in Directing from The University of Alberta. Originally an actor, he ran Lodestar Theatre Company from 2006-2014. Max has directed a wide range of work throughout the UK and was artistic director of The Liverpool Shakespeare Festival from 2007-2012. He has also produced various Applied Theatre projects and taught / directed in various drama schools in the UK and in Europe. Particular interests include adaptation, devised and site-specific work.

As a director his work includes: Richard III ( Timms Centre for the Arts) After Miss Julie’, TWO, and The Birthday Party (Edmonton Fringe Festival), Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, The Master and Margarita, Macbeth, A midsummer night’s dream, (The Liverpool Shakespeare Festival).

Peter Mills

Tap, Jazz, & Movement

Peter Mills trained at the prestigious Boston Conservatory where he obtained a BFA in Musical Theatre. Since graduating over ten years ago he has worked as a performer, choreographer and instructor across Canada, the U.S and India.

His theatre credits include: Kiss me Kate (Boston) Crazy for You (Witchita) Fade Out, Fade In (New York) and Hello Dolly (Washington DC).

Adrianne Salmon

Pedagogy

Adrianne Salmon is a multifaceted performer, creator, and instructor. She is a graduate of The Royal Scottish Conservatoire, earning her MA in Musical Theatre Performance. Her professional experience since has included theatre, cabaret, improv, and songwriting (her original music is released under the name Adri Meeks).

Nikki Hulowski

Screen Acting

Nikki Rae Hallow (Nikki Hulowski) is a Canadian actress, comedian, voice actor, improviser, writer, instructor and stunt person. She is a graduate of the University of Alberta’s BFA program, graduating with both Distinction and on the Dean’s List.

Since graduating, Nikki has worked full-time as an actress and comedian on both film and the stage, and is a member and co-founder of Marv n’ Berry, a Canadian sketch comedy troupe that has seen international success. Her film and TV credits include: Heartland (CBC), And The Oscar Goes To... (Allen Media), Extremity (Dark Elegy), Caution: May Contain Nuts (Mosaic).

Theatre Director

An award-winning Canadian theatre director and currently the artistic director of The Citadel theatre, in Edmonton.

Julien Arnold

Actor

Julian is a well-loved Edmonton based actor. Audiences will know him from his many appearances at the Citadel Theatre which include ‘A Christmas Carol’ ‘Once’ ‘Sense and Sensibility’ ‘One Man, Two Guvnors’ and ‘Spamalot’.

Susan Gilmore

Singer & Actress

Edmonton born Susan Gilmour is a singer-actress of international standing, having starred on Broadway, LA, across the US and Canada, and around the world.

Benjamin Blyth

Artistic Director

Artistic director of Internationally acclaimed Malachite Theatre Company, Benjamin splits his time between Edmonton, Calgary and London, UK.

John Ullyatt

Actor

John is a well-known face on the Edmonton stage having performed leading roles around the city and far beyond for many years. He has appeared in ‘Mamma Mia’ ‘Shakespeare in Love’ and recently played the dreaded Miss Trunchbull in the musical ‘Matilda’ (Winnipeg, Edmonton, Vancouver).

Patricia Zentilli

Actor

Patricia is a performer who has worked in theatre, film and television across Canada. As well as playing roles such as Donna in ‘Mamma Mia’ at the Citadel, she can be seen performing in her own highly successful Cabaret series Patty Zee@ The Roxy.

Byron Martin

Artistic Director & Actor

Byron is the founder, and artistic director of Grindstone Theatre. He is also an actor and improviser. He is the director of ‘The 11 o’clock Number’ The improvised musical with which he has toured internationally.
